Master Plan Panel Elects Nicole Torres Chair
Other Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Shrewsbury seats its first-ever Master Plan Committee, targets a new town blueprint by next summer. The roughly 15-member panel, created by special legislation, unanimously elected Nicole Torres, the School Committee's representative, as chair and Michelle Conlin, a Select Board representative, as clerk. Consultant Judy Barrett of Barrett Planning Group told members the update to the town's 2016 Community Vision is arriving early because "Shrewsbury has seen a lot of changes within just 10 years." The plan must address 10 state-mandated elements, including land use, housing and sustainability, through a five-phase process including two to three public workshops.
Planning Board representative Steve Roto-Lakes said he'd "like to see some consensus" on development projects that currently split neighborhoods. The committee eyed a second-Wednesday monthly meeting schedule, with October 14 floated as a possible next date.
