Study panel sets Sept. 24 town meeting forum
Other Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026
Shrewsbury's Form of Government Study Committee reviewed a 248-response resident survey and finalized a September 24 forum for Town Meeting members. Staff liaison Tanner reported 72.6 percent satisfaction with day-to-day municipal staff services, versus roughly 40 percent for land-use decisions, and found agenda-aware residents understood the budget process at a 71.1 percent rate compared with 5.2 percent among the unaware. Member Mark questioned how to interpret the survey's many "neutral" responses, while member Steve warned that off-topic comments on roads, a SELCO relocation and the VFW's eviction risked leaving residents feeling unheard.
Seventeen Town Meeting members have RSVP'd for the September 24 session, and the committee is working to invite Amherst's town manager, who oversaw that town's recent shift away from a similar government structure, to a future meeting.
