Board of Health adopts fluoridation engagement process

Board of Health · Meeting of June 24, 2026

Shrewsbury Board of Health adopts water fluoridation engagement process. The three-member Board unanimously approved a structured community engagement framework designed by consultant Stacie Nicole Smith of CBI to guide public discussion on the town's current water fluoridation policy. Under the design, the Board will identify key questions, engage subject matter experts, and deliberate on a draft position before seeking public input and deciding whether to make policy changes.

Regional Public Health Director Annette Garcia reported a five-year strategic plan begins in July and all regional communities have signed inter-municipal agreements, while a regional taskforce on opioid prevention will launch in FY27 with Board member Emily Walker participating. Dr. George Abraham concluded seven years of Board service.
