Shrewsbury Planning Board closes hearing on 250-unit project, keeps fighting over height on another. GoVenture Capital Group president Brendan Gove told the board his firm needs a "six and a half percent return on cost" to finance the 250-unit 525 Hartford Turnpike development and offered to cover any shortfall in state funding for a traffic signal; the board closed that hearing by roll call, 3-0, with new member Penny Ionelli not voting. Separately, the board continued Spagtacular LLC's 270-unit, 335 Maple Avenue mixed-use proposal to Oct. 1 after Oak Street resident Richard Edwards argued the project's two five-story buildings are "way too many" for the area and staffer Christopher McGoldrick pushed back on claims his department recommended the height.

The board also approved a construction bond for 193 Hartford Turnpike over a letter from attorney Jared A. Fiore, representing Demoulas Super Markets, Inc., which disputed that pending litigation over the site had been settled; staff said counsel confirmed the bond could still issue under Chapter 40A. The board additionally approved $5,199.50 in Graves Engineering invoices and bonds for 1-7 Maple Avenue.
