Planning Board · Meeting of September 3, 2026

Shrewsbury Planning Board closed a hearing on a 250-unit mixed-use development at 525 Hartford Turnpike while advancing continued review of a larger 270-unit project at 335 Maple Avenue. For the Hartford Turnpike development (Virginia K Luke Irrevocable Trust, applicants GoVenture Capital Group), the Board voted 4-0 to close the hearing after applicants confirmed adequate sewer capacity, drafted school bus access agreements, and committed to funding a required traffic signal regardless of state grant availability. For the Maple Avenue project (Spagtacular LLC), the Board voted 4-0 to continue the hearing to October 1, 2026, after applicants agreed to eliminate the fifth floor, reducing the planned 270 units to approximately 250 units.

Board members cited strong concerns about building heights when viewed from Route 9. Public commenters raised additional concerns about traffic impacts near schools and stormwater management.
