SHREWSBURY — Lake Quinsigamond Commission voted to investigate a houseboat moored off Sargent's Island that may exceed the lake's 30-foot vessel limit. Secretary Mike said the Oklahoma-based owner claims the boat measures "exactly 30 feet" and plans no rentals, but correspondence alleged the owner holds four lake properties and advertised up to 24 bed-and-breakfast units on a lot with a single-bedroom septic system. The motion to probe the boat's length, toilet facilities and rental status carried unanimously.
The commission also approved Regatta Point's October 11 Head of the Quinsigamond Regatta, expecting 300 shells and 1,800 participants, and announced Dr. Matt Forgos, a 24-year lake resident, as the new at-large commissioner replacing Peter Collins. Worcester's Katie Liming reported the season's best water clarity, at 14 feet.
