SHREWSBURY — The Lake Quinsigamond Commission voted 8-0 to schedule an Oct. 28 public hearing on houseboats and vessels with similar impacts on the lake. Before the vote, public commenter Sully Roberts, a former outreach manager for Veterans, Inc. who ran the organization's Worcester food pantry, urged commissioners to handle any houseboat removals "in a harm reduction-informed manner that tries to, at all times, maintain the dignity and the humanity of the people who are living in those houseboats." Commissioners Emma, Matt, Maddie Baderman, Ryan Brev, Lieutenant Gerard, Ken and Dean, along with the chair, cast all eight votes; member Mike Piker was absent sick. The hearing, set for the commission's Oct. 28, 2026 meeting, is expected to carry more detailed motion language than Wednesday's scheduling vote.
The commission also voted 8-0 to adjourn.
