Shrewsbury School Committee Unanimously Approves Dr. Ostrander's Three-Year Superintendent Contract

SHREWSBURY — June 10, 2026 — Shrewsbury School Committee unanimously approved a three-year, $220,000-per-year contract for incoming Superintendent Dr. Tiffany Ostrander at its June 10 meeting, effective July 1, 2026. The committee, chaired by Rachel Sharifar, also passed unanimous votes to increase extended school care tuition by 5 percent, approve a 3 percent compensation adjustment for non-represented hourly staff, authorize an FY26 budget closeout transfer projecting a landing within 0.24 percent of the district's $90 million-plus appropriation, and appoint Ostrander as the district's representative to the Assabet Valley Collaborative. A student services opportunity review by District Management Group found Shrewsbury has the second-lowest out-of-district special education placement rate among comparable districts at 3.8 percent, with projected savings of roughly $3 million annually versus peer-district averages, while identifying five improvement opportunities centered on maximizing para educator effectiveness and direct student service time. The committee also honored 33 retiring educators with a combined 720 years of service to Shrewsbury Public Schools, and recognized state champion teams in speech and debate, DECA, HOSA, and crew — including a first-ever mixed middle school quad state title for the Quad Squad program.
