Select Board · Meeting of October 27, 2026
SHREWSBURY — The Shrewsbury Select Board voted unanimously to sign the warrant for a December 7 special town meeting covering drone and data center zoning, civil service hiring changes and the future of 15 Maple Avenue. Town Manager Kevin Mizekar outlined a draft data center bylaw permitting facilities up to 10 megawatts, prompting a board member to argue for a 2-megawatt cap instead, warning a larger facility "is definitely going to affect the residential rate." Mizekar said he would consult town counsel on lowering the threshold before the bylaw reaches the Planning Board's November 4 public hearing. The board also adopted 2027 Medicare-eligible retiree health insurance rates, with increases ranging from 2.7 percent to 13.2 percent, and reappointed Robert Pine to the Insurance Advisory Committee.
Staff confirmed the fiscal 2027 tax rate of $11.38 has been certified by the state Department of Revenue.
