Select Board refers data center, drone zoning bylaws
Select Board · Meeting of September 8, 2026
Shrewsbury Select Board refers data center and drone zoning bylaws to the Planning Board. The board, chaired by Theresa Flynn with members Carlos Garcia, Greg Richards and Sharma, voted unanimously to send the two draft bylaws forward, with Town Manager Kevin Vizicard citing Governor Maura Healey's new executive order covering data centers "above 25 megawatts." Members also approved a common victualler license for BBQ Land, an automatic amusement license for Funcity Shrewsbury, and an overnight Green Street road closure for Pulte Homes' sewer tie-in. The board amended its wastewater agreement with the city of Worcester to add two properties, with capacity "not even a fifth" of the 1.5 million-gallon daily limit.
On naming a recreation building space for former employee Dawn Shannon, Garcia said she was "just a ray of light," but the board took no vote, asking staff for a more concrete plan. The meeting closed with a 4-0 roll-call vote to enter executive session.
