Regional Opioid Task Force launches with October programming and grant timeline
Regional Opioid Task Force · Meeting of July 15, 2026
SHREWSBURY — The Regional Opioid Task Force, representing Shrewsbury and West Boylston, held its inaugural meeting to establish programming, advisory recruitment, and grant distribution processes. The task force authorized National Opioid Awareness Day programming for October 6, including speaking engagements by Chris Herren at both schools and a recorded parent webinar available to public and private schools, supported by pooled opioid funds. A Notification of Funding Opportunity for opioid prevention and response grants will be voted on August 18 and posted around August 21, with applications due September 25 and award letters to follow October 19; grants will run through June 30, 2027.
The task force is recruiting Community Advisory Members with lived or living experience of substance use at a proposed seventy-five dollar per meeting stipend and is exploring post-overdose response options including contract case management and the Massachusetts Behavioral Health Hotline.
