Shrewsbury Recruits 10 Firefighter-Paramedics For New EMS Team

Shrewsbury is recruiting ten firefighter-paramedics as the town prepares to launch its first municipal EMS team, a shift away from relying on outside providers for ambulance service, according to Shrewsbury Patch.

Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project crews will be in Shrewsbury on five Tuesdays this month, responding to resident concerns about mosquitoes on Sept. 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29, according to the town's News Flash. All dates are tentative and subject to change based on weather conditions.

The Central Massachusetts Regional Health Department, together with the mosquito control project, will also host a free educational session on mosquitoes at the Shrewsbury Public Library on Sept. 9 at 6 p.m. The town describes it as an interactive outreach session suitable for all ages.

The Shrewsbury Public Library launches its "Wall of Awful" book program Tuesday evening, with a 6:30 p.m. launch event in Meeting Room A. The library's Tuesday lineup also includes a Spanish Conversation Club at 6 p.m., a Film Discussion Club screening of "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" at 7 p.m., and a Tech Awareness session at 7:30 p.m.
