Shrewsbury Board of Health reviews hauler permit rules for waste and recycling. The proposed $500 permits, valid through December 31, 2027 and renewable annually, would require private haulers to provide bundled rubbish and recycling services to all residents and businesses, with clearly labeled containers, aimed at reducing contamination and ensuring equitable access. Solid Waste and Recycling Program Manager Gosia Stolarska said the rules support the town's strategic plan; a public hearing will be held before the board votes on final adoption.
The Central Massachusetts Regional Health Department, fully staffed since August 2025, reported 192 inspections completed in its first five months.
