SHREWSBURY — Sewer Commission approves 5 percent rate increase for fiscal 2027. Town Director of Budget and Financial Planning Alexandria Martinez presented the increase as part of a fiscal 2027 budget raising overall sewer costs 6.83 percent, with one million dollars to be drawn from the Sewer surplus special revenue fund to offset expenses. Commission Chairman Andrew Nelson, Commissioners John Knipe and Robert Cox unanimously approved the proposal, aiming to fund critical pump station upgrades at Walnut Street and Harvey Place while maintaining adequate fund reserves.
