Shrewsbury Sewer Commission hears updates on five pump stations undergoing evaluation. Chairman Andrew Nelson, Commissioners John Knipe and Robert Cox, along with Water and Sewer Superintendent Timothy Maroney and Program Manager Jennifer Wright, received operational updates on ongoing sewer projects. The Hill Street Pump Station, which has experienced issues and unexplained back-ups since a casualty approximately 10 to 15 years ago, is among five stations under preliminary evaluation.
The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection will inspect the sewer line from Main Circle to the Westborough Treatment Plant, with Commissioner Knipe raising concerns about crossing six lanes of traffic. The Maple Avenue pump station project is expected to complete by June 12, 2026.
