Senior Center usage nearly doubles; bus acquisition planned

Shrewsbury Senior Center usage nearly doubled in fiscal 2025, the Council on Aging heard. Director Hollie Lucht presented facility-improvement plans including new lighting, dementia-friendly paint, and flooring replacement in the event room and hallway this year, with kitchen remodeling set for fiscal 2028. The board is pursuing acquisition of a second bus by June 2026 to expand transportation.
The food pantry will institute eligibility requirements based on participation in SNAP, MassHealth, and Fuel Assistance programs and enforce stricter appointment times due to high demand.
