Shrewsbury Electric & Cable Operations (SELCO) announced Oct. 28 that it has received the Gold Public Power Customer Satisfaction Award for 2026 from the American Public Power Association (APPA). This marks the second time SELCO has earned the award at the gold level.

The award is based on customer survey responses across eight categories: customer service, field personnel, communication, reliability, value, outage response, innovation and overall satisfaction. SELCO received an average rating of more than 95% across all eight categories.

"The public power business model fully aligns the citizens of Shrewsbury as both customers and owners," SELCO General Manager Christopher Roy said in the release. "Recognition by the community in this fashion exemplifies success in providing exemplary service to our customer-owners. The SELCO team should be proud of everything they do!"

The APPA awards are presented at gold, silver and bronze levels based on customer satisfaction survey results. As a community-owned municipal utility, SELCO provides electric and telecommunications services to Shrewsbury residents and businesses.

APPA is the national trade organization representing not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities, representing about 2,000 public power utilities nationwide that serve more than 55 million people.
