Historic District Commission · Meeting of January 15, 2026
SHREWSBURY — Historic District Commission approves pergola compliance and tables pet pantry relocation. The commission unanimously approved a Certificate of Appropriateness for Paul and Mame Little's rear-patio pergola at 10 Prospect Street after the applicants demonstrated the structure matched a historic predecessor on the property. In a related matter, Commission Chair Melanie Patrucci tabled a proposal from Skip Burnett and First Congregational Church to relocate a Community Pet Pantry shed to church grounds, citing unresolved questions about parking lot ownership and HDC jurisdiction; the church and pantry founders were directed to resubmit.
The commission also voted unanimously to invite Parks and Cemetery officials Kevin Esposito and Michelle Cronin to a future meeting to detail progress on a Community Preservation Act-funded restoration of "Old Corner" gravestones in Mountain View Cemetery.
