Shrewsbury Finance Committee opens FY27 budget public hearings spanning nine departments. Chair Gene Buddenhagen and nine members unanimously approved prior minutes and opened the hearing at 6:02 p.m., hearing from Recreation, Library, Council on Aging, Public Health, Building Inspector, Planning and Economic Development, Information Technology, Accounting, Treasurer/Collector, Town Clerk, Assessor, and Human Resources officials. Public Health Director Annette Garcia reported the department faces a $136,000 local funding shortfall despite receiving $450,000 in state grant funding for FY27 with no commitment beyond that year.
The Committee unanimously continued the hearing to March 19, 2026.
