Finance Committee continues FY27 education budget hearing, seeks $450K reduction.

SHREWSBURY — Finance Committee reopened its FY27 education budget public hearing on March 19. Erin Boucher, School Committee Chair, and Dr. Joseph Sawyer, Superintendent of Schools, presented the School Committee's recommended $94,631,135 budget, a 4.75 percent increase over FY26, characterized as level-service spending to continue programming while addressing cost pressures.
The Committee discussed the $450,000 gap between that recommendation and the Town Manager's 4.25 percent target. The hearing was continued to Saturday, March 21 at 8:30 a.m.
