SHREWSBURY — Finance Committee completes FY27 departmental budget hearing. The committee unanimously approved minutes of March 17, 2026, and finished its full-day review of departmental requests, hearing from Public Works Director Timothy McInerney on energy and contract pressures, Water and Sewer Superintendent Timothy Maroney on proposed water and sewer rate increases of 3.5 percent and 10 percent respectively, and Public Buildings Division Manager John Hamilton on a 26 percent jump in natural gas costs. Street Lighting expenses will increase 20 percent based on SELCO rates.

The committee will hold public hearings on the Annual Town Meeting Warrant on April 9 and April 16, 2026.
