SHREWSBURY — Finance Committee approves library HVAC replacement, opens town meeting hearing. Chair Gene Buddenhagen and the nine-member committee unanimously approved a $50,000 reserve fund transfer for Library HVAC repairs and opened a public hearing on 34 warrant articles for the May 18 Annual Town Meeting. Town Manager Kevin Mizikar recommended a 4.25 percent increase to the school operating budget and presented capital improvement plans totaling approximately $3.8 million across water, sewer, and stormwater utilities.

The committee advanced articles proposing $600,000 for the General Stabilization Fund, $475,000 to establish a Fire Apparatus Replacement Fund, $100,000 for 300th-anniversary celebration expenses, and acceptance of $1.9 million in state Chapter 90 roadway funds, with continued public hearing scheduled for April 16.
