CPC approves $762,500 for housing assistance and field lighting

Shrewsbury Community Preservation Committee approves $762,500 in housing and field lighting funding. The Committee unanimously approved $112,500 for the Affordable Housing Trust's Rental Assistance Program, a one-year pilot providing $500 monthly assistance to approximately 25 cost-burdened renters earning 80 percent or below area median income; an additional $30,000 will cover third-party application review. The committee also unanimously approved $650,000 for LED lighting at Maple Avenue Recreation Area's softball, soccer, and lacrosse fields.
Shrewsbury data presented showed approximately 40 percent of renters are cost-burdened compared to 20 percent of homeowners.
