SHREWSBURY — Commission approves accessibility upgrades at 1830 Brick School. The Historic District Commission unanimously approved two Certificates of Appropriateness during its March 19 meeting, authorizing a $40,000 state grant-funded project to make the 1830 Brick School ADA compliant through push-activated doors, handrail installation, and ramp adjustments, with work to conclude by June 30. The board also approved fence repairs at the Artemas Ward House.
Cemetery Program Manager Michelle Cronin reported that gravestone restoration at Mayflower Cemetery has advanced to only 107 of 400 stones with half the grant timeline consumed, prompting Commissioner Kris Gustafson to pledge the board's support for a grant extension.
