Board approves $14,500 in grants, names new librarian

SHREWSBURY — Library board approves $14,500 in grants for programs and facilities. The Board of Library Trustees approved a $7,500 Library Services and Technology Act grant for preservation assessment of the library's historical collection and a $7,000 grant from the Turkey Trot supporting the Memory Café program, which draws 10 to 12 couples per meeting in average attendance. The board also appointed Kim Barrett as the new Interlibrary Loan Librarian from a competitive field of 40 applicants.
New checkout systems installed with capital funds are now operating at 90 percent efficiency after two months of system calibration.
